New Beginnings

Wed Nov 12, 2008, 11:47 PM
So, since my last journal was about Fallout 3, and that has since come out and been absolutely awesome, I think I'll make a new one.

So yeah, still playing through Fallout. Got the storyline all sewn up but am still exploring the Capital Wastes! Whole game is superb and I will no doubt be playing through it again after I finish my exploring.

Drunken Philosophy will more than likely not be recieving any new updates. Luke's a slack bastard and eventually just stopped drawing all together. The site itself however, will be getting rebuilt and will have a new comic endeavour grace its pages. Drunken Philosophy will still be there and online, but the new one will be getting my focus once we're up and running. I has a new lineartist for this new comic as well.

Should be all good things in the future of Drunken Comics.

...wait, did I just type that out loud?
:excited: Dude, glad to see that Drunken Comics is up and running again!
Thanks! It's still not getting a heap of updates, but it's getting more than it was. Hopefully things will come together in the next few months and we'll have lots going on.

Hi! Your art is really good. I noticed you have an Asus R1F. I've been looking into tablet PCs and this one is first on my list of choices. Would you recommend it? What is it you like about it for someone who is interested in digital art such as yourself? I was also wondering if there were any major downsides to it. Thanks for your time! :)
hello Mystrae! I have found the R1F pretty good for the most part, since I've had it. The thing that I've enjoyed about it, is you can work straight onto the screen like one of the bigger Wacom tablets, but can also carry it around wherever you're going pretty easily. That's the main reason I picked it up when I did. The other thing i liked when i bought it was the pressure sensitivity it claimed to have. Unfortunately that leads us to the major problem I've had with it. Out of the box, the pressure sensitivity did not work. It's an issue with the drivers the tablet uses. I haven't looked for a fix for a little while now, but when I tried to fix mine they were meant to be correcting the problem. I got around it by downloading the latest Wacom drivers from their site - unfortunately, it cause the thing where you can swivel the screen around and it displays lengthways, to not work correctly (still works fine if viewed after spinning it around though, so this wasn't too much of a problem) The other thing it caused was for pen flicks to not work in Photoshop.

I've been working with those problems now for about 8 months or something, and they don't bother me too much. You mentioning it here's actually prompted me to go see if there's a better fix for it, so thanks :)

A good thing I've found with Asus' in general, is their laptops are pretty sturdy. I know mines been knocked around a bit, and it came backpacking through the UK with me for a few months. It's never missed a beat - only recent hardware fault is to do with the power cord on it, which is no biggie.

I hope that helps you some :) I think it's my longest DevArt post ever! :P
